10 Autumn Wedding Colour Palettes

Weyhey! It's a new week! Hope you all are back renewed and refreshed after your long weekend, and ready for a new month of inspiration here on SBB. I certainly know I am ready to start a fresh page, with a pretty stressful week behind me. And what better way than with our new theme. This month, seeing as Autumn has finally started to Fall here in South Africa (see what I did there, huh huh?) I thought that it was the perfect time to focus on everything wonderful that the cooler months have to offer a bride and groom - everything from colours to fashion inspiration to a bit of sound advice. To kick things off, I thought I would round up some of my absolute favourite autumn wedding palettes from over the years. You'll find the more traditional colour schemes here - the shades of autumn leaves that so many seasonal brides favour - but you'll also find some fresh twists to inspire. Click on to find your favourite!

Not only is this one a favourite autumn palette, it's actually your all-time most viewed inspiration board! The dreamy mix of purple berry shades with mocha and taupe is the perfect cool weather mix. Just add fairy lights!

For a sophisticated look that still has a lot of warmth to it, turn to copper metallics and pair them with navy and grey. This would be amazing for a wineland wedding, transitioning the look from summer to autumn in style. And don't forget that tiny touch of sparkle for extra zing!

Speaking of warmth, that's what this board is all about. Mixed metallics leaning heavily towards the gold end of the spectrum, and lots of glitter and glow, supported by an organic take on traditional autumn colours - peach, scarlet and yellow.

A similar palette to the last (because berry red and peach work so beautifully for autumn, don't they?) but this time leaning more toward scarlet and with brass taking the lead over gold. It's super-satisfyingly pretty, isn't it? And it has a lovely touch of antique to suit any vintage-loving bride.

This has actually always been one of my favourite boards - I just adore that mix of aubergine purple, radish red and artichoke green. Combine with some farm-to-table goodness and a touch of wood texturing, and you have elegantly rustic autumn goodness all over.

A couple of years ago, wedding world went a little bit mad for little white pumpkins, and you can see why, right? So cute. For a relaxed but still super pretty look that's perfect for the change in season, I loved it combined with a sunshiney yellow, and denim blue, with just a touch of dove grey.

Top row (l-r): Groom's shoes {Lacie Hansen Photography/Tamara Bolton}: invitation suite {Ceci New York/Elizabeth Messina}; settee {Gabe Aceves} | Row 2: Velvet bowties {Jen Huang Photography/Poppies & Posies}; menu with velvet ribbon {Elisa B Photography/Ribbons and Blue Birds}; navy velvet shoes | Row 3: Bouquet with velvet ribbon {Brosnan Photographic/Ruby and Bloom/The Bridal Lounge}; velvet bow hairpiece {Jose Villa/Boutaugh/Grey Likes Weddings}; escort cards {Jose Villa}; velvet suit {Jen Huang/Magnolia Rouge}

Sometimes it's all about texture, and this board gives a nod to the chillier days and nights with a sumptuous warm fabric, velvet. I just love the combination of dusky blue and rose, along with a punch of navy as a sophisticated anchor colour.

When is a colour scheme not really a colour scheme? When you focus on soft neutrals, like milky white, taupe and gingerbread and accent them for autumn with a golden glow of honey yellow. All natural, all beautiful.

Berry shades are a great choice for autumn and winter weddings, and I love how this board takes them up a notch with bright poppy red and African violet, along with a softer lavender to balance them out. Isn't there something just delicious about the way they work together?

Finally, there's my take on the classic of burnt red, yellow and orange leaf shades (after all, it's a classic for a reason). Add in metallics (gold and bronze) to keep it modern, and add sweet rustic elements like bark votives, pinecones and caramel apples served on 'sticks'. Now that's how to do an autumn wedding justice. Now all you need is a roaring fire... :)
