Black and White Wedding Cakes

Having a black and white wedding? Or maybe you just want to add a dose of sophistication to your sweet table? These black and white wedding cakes are just plain lovely. We love how much of a statement these confections make-clearly you don't need a bundle of color to steal the show!

Traditional Elements

Use black and white to transform classic design elements into modern powerhouse. Whether with floral patterns, bows, or scallops, these stark beauties will be the star of the party!

Play with Patterns

A polka dots and stripes combo is bold and stylish (above) and goes well with everything from metallics to sherbet brights. Below, use a dotted pattern in shades of black and white to go ombre. And Art Deco fabulous can be yours with a black and white cake in a linear design (below, right).

Chalkboard Chic

We all know how trendy chalkboard signage is right now. But did you know you could have a chalkboard-inspired cake?! With some handy dandy food coloring and a talented baker, a fashionable wedding cake can be yours!

Balancing the Two

Of course, the effect of black and white is much different depending upon which one is used more dominantly in your cake. The large black bow on the wedding cake above is utterly unique and dramatic. For a lighter touch, the dusting of black on the white ruffles has a shadowy effect (below, left). For something between the two, this cake below features handwritten script pattern across the cakes and rosettes (below, right).
