I hope you all had a good weekend.

We have an absolutely epic wedding to share with you today. Captured so brilliantly by Sara Lincoln Photography and full of so much laughter and fun that I felt myself beaming back at the photos as I was editing them. If ever there was a wedding that truly captures the personalities and spirit of the bride and groom and all their friends and families then this has to be it.

I have fallen in love with Helen and Diarmuid's laid back attitude and quirky style which has led to a wedding that is so unique and special. Their focus was to create a wedding where their guests best interests would be at the heart of the day. They wanted to make it as easy and cheap for everyone involved so they could all just relax and enjoy each others company. Judging from the pictures below, I think its safe to say they succeeded!

Look out for a very impressive man beard, a super cute flower girl, a very cool little page boy, amazing quirky photography and a hell of a lot of smiles!

Over to Helen and Diarmuid....

When we were planning our wedding we wanted to make it a day that all our family and friends would enjoy and remember. We didn't want to be held down for years after with large repayments either. Also we only wanted to include the parts we were comfortable with, so we left out the speeches, cutting of the cake, seating plans and we had hoped to cut out the first dance but our band was so amazing we fell in to it naturally!

We decided to have a civil marriage in our local city's Cork office, where immediate family and marriage party joined us. It was so lovely and intimate, with Bon Iver music playing in the back ground. We did a candle lighting part which was lovely. My head bridesmaid of seven said a poem which made her cry and laugh at the same time, which was very funny for all of us!

Our inspiration behind our ideas were rustic, no frills, old fashioned, homemade country style summer fair themed party. I guess we also wanted people to have a lovely day without the expense of hotels, bars etc. We believe that in the last few years that wedding invites can begin to become a burden on people financially. Depending on how many
you would get in the same month, so this was hopefully an ease on people. We had a bar on site, with a bring your own option. Also a parking and camping option if wanted.

We both agree our favourite moment of the day way arriving at our home and greeting all our family and friends it was lovely to have everyone there before we got there.

If we had any advice for other couples it would be, plan your wedding like it was a party you would like to go to, and don't follow traditions if you are not into them or uncomfortable with them. For example we didn't feel like the traditions of cake cutting and seating arrangements were very us and the speeches especially made Diarmuid nervous... so we canned them. Instead we made a plan to enjoy our day together, say hello to everyone and not be tied down by the traditions and feeling like a work load...... but each to their own of course.
