Laid Back Thoughtful & Fun Vintage Glam DIY Wedding - Whimsical...

Happy Friday WWWers, I hope you have had a brilliant week. To start the weekend with a bang, feast your eyes on today's super beautiful wedding.

The Inn at Whitewell was the perfect reception venue for WWW readers Hannah and Dave who were married on the 30th May 2015. They envisioned a day which was laid back, thoughtful and fun with a touch of vintage.

Hannah looked so very glam in her Platinum Eden dress by Jenny Packham, hearts for eyes indeed. Meanwhile Dave looked dapper in an ASOS suit with floral print tie and their daughter was adorable in a sweet dress. Let's not forget how lovely the divine Peony bouquet, fluffy pink and yellow pom poms and maids in blush gowns looked too. Hannah designed the pretty floral stationery and styled the day to perfection, the marquee looked totally gorgeous. Such a wonderful day.

Lawson Photography thank you so much for sharing your amazing imagery with us.

THE PROPOSAL | We were on holiday in Greece and little did I know Dave had hidden my engagement ring in his wallet (which I had in my bag!) in case anything happened to our cases. It was the second night in and he was acting a little shifty and hurrying me and we went for a walk on the beach and sat on a little garden swing and he nervously pulled the ring out of his pocket and popped the question! It was so lovely and pretty romantic for Dave! We spent the night drinking fizz by the sea and got upgraded to a Jacuzzi room looking out to the beach - perfect!

THE VISION | I had always known I wanted to be extremely involved with our wedding and make it personal to us so this really set the vision in motion. I had always been creative and love a touch of vintage so I began trawling through Pinterest, blogs, magazines and vintage wedding fairs for some inspiration. We wanted a laid back, thoughtful, fun, DIY kind of day, which everyone would remember. We wanted everyone to feel like they had been to a really fun party rather than a formal occasion.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | I can be a little too organised at times (I have been known to be called Monica!) and having a wedding to plan really brought my need to be a perfectionist to life. Everything was booked within weeks of getting engaged so then I could focus on the pretty details. It was a good job as our little girl Imogen Rose came along just 6 months before the wedding! A lot of to do lists were made and my Mum bought me a wedding file and planner (my idea of heaven!) to keep everything together. I loved ticking things off as I went along and was so happy that I'd planned the major aspects well in advance to avoid disappointment. The little details and added extras just fell into place as I was designing everything - which would usually be well into the night after Imogen had gone to sleep!

BUDGET | £10,000 - £15,000

THE VENUE | My Sister is a hairdresser and had worked with Brides getting married at the Inn at Whitewell, in the Trough of Bowland, and she said to me that I would love the venue. As soon as we could, we booked to go and have a look and we didn't look anywhere else. We knew it was perfect. It had the gorgeous marquee and the rustic, country vibe along with the laid back atmosphere which we wanted to achieve - plus the views are stunning so loads of great photo opportunities!

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress was the easiest part of the whole process. I used to help a family friend out at wedding fairs and model wedding dresses so I kind of knew exactly what I didn't want and I knew I wanted something different. Eden in Platinum by Jenny Packham was the one for me and as it has such intricate detailing I simply accessorised with a Cathedral length veil I bought from Etsy as I couldn't justify spending hundreds on a veil when I knew I would wear it for a few hours! I asked my florist to put together some individual flowers to pin in my hair which would match the rest of the flower arrangements and which would give me more of a laid back essence rather than too much bling. I wore my Grandma's engagement ring who sadly I never got to meet as my something old, blue and borrowed and my dress and shoes were my new. The shoes were a bargain from Debut in Debenhams and I kept them on all day! My Sister styled my hair and all of the Bridesmaids and I did my own make-up.

FINDING THE DRESS | I came across the White Closet in Didsbury from a wedding I had seen online and knew I had to book an appointment as not only is the boutique absolutely stunning, their dresses matched my vision perfectly. I thought I'd go for lace but as soon as I tried Eden by Jenny Packham, I knew it was the one. My Mum's favourite Fleetwood Mac song came on whilst I had it on so it was definitely a sign! I originally tried Eden in Ivory but I knew I wanted to see the Platinum version before I committed 100%. As soon as the Platinum came in I tried it and ordered it. The colouring made the detail stand out so much and I loved how the bronze and gold beading could set off the rest of the wedding. Plus I had pinned the dress on Pinterest before I even got engaged and when I discovered you didn't actually need to be supermodel skinny to wear it I knew I had to have it!

GROOM'S ATTIRE | This was so difficult! We went on a trip to the Trafford Centre, newborn baby in pram - mistake! - and hoped to get a suit from The Kooples. Dave thought he had found the perfect one but they didn't make the waistcoat in his size so it was scratched off the list. We ended up having a look online and found one on ASOS, a navy blue skinny fit suit with a slight check running through. It was perfect. We bought brown brogues from Kurt Geiger and the Groomsmen were asked to wear either navy blue or grey and we bought floral ties from ASOS for them all to wear. It all went together really well and added to the laid back essence of the wedding.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | As we had a Church ceremony I thought I may as well go all out and have the traditional Bridal March by Wagner. My Brother read from The Corinthians and one of my Bridesmaids, Clare, read "I Will Be Here" by Steven Curtis Chapman. We booked an amazing wedding singer and MC to entertain us for the whole day called Howard Wing and he was just fabulous. He had the whole wedding up dancing before the speeches, doing the love train, dancing on chairs and even got my Brother singing a duet! It was a great party atmosphere and just what we had envisioned. For our first dance we had "Wanna Be Yours" by the Arctic Monkeys as it was completely different but special to us and represented us as a couple. Howard did a set before and after the first dance and got everyone dancing and then we had a great DJ, also booked with Howard, playing 70s Disco and our favourite Indie tunes from when we were students!! We had also asked each guest to request a song they wanted to dance to.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | The Bridesmaids was a pretty easy task. I knew I wanted them in something off the high street and again something a little different which could possibly be worn again. I came across their dresses on the Next website and loved the blush colour. I had originally wanted them in cream or white so I didn't have a colour scheme but the blush sat so perfectly next to my dress I had to order them. After a few trips to Next to make sure we had the right sizes and my fabulous Aunty acting as seamstress they were perfect and they all looked stunning!! My Sister/Maid of Honour definitely had a Pippa Middleton bum moment in hers!!

THE FLOWERS | Our florist was the amazing Jane and team at Flower Design based in Blackpool. Jane's service and approach to creating wedding flowers is truly personal and involves an array of meetings including each couple creating a mood board of their theme, colour scheme, dress, grooms attire etc... so she can really understand the feel of the wedding. What can I say? She just got it. I wanted a wild flower feel to the flower arrangements and nothing too set. I had collected some old bottles and tea cups, which I showed her as inspiration and the rest was history. Jane brought my mood board to life and created a full sample bouquet and table setting before the wedding so I could envision it. Her little touches including the vintage books and rustic jugs were simply divine. The flowers were so different to anything I'd seen before and the professionalism and quality of service was amazing. Definitely an area of the wedding to go all out on and splash the cash - it makes such a difference!

THE CAKE | My talented best friend and Bridesmaid Clare made our wedding cake. She is a Lawyer by day and Mary Berry by night! I wanted something rustic with Victoria Sponge and
she did a great job. My Mother in Law knitted our cake toppers with our Cocker Spaniel Theo featuring as he couldn't be there on the day. I made the little bunting detailing to match the rest of the wedding and I customised a crate with mini pom poms and our initials to stick with the rustic personalised theme. I also added a little framed quote, which I had saved off an engagement card we had received.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | This was also easy as I had seen the amazing photography by the talented Pete and Laura Lawson of Lawson Photography before and remember gasping at how beautiful their images were. Dave isn't great in photos and I hate standing around at weddings whilst every family member gets called up for a photo so we wanted a style that was really relaxed and that I knew would capture every little detail and all of the happiness. Pete and Laura obviously nailed it as they do with every wedding and our photos are just stunning. All of the guests commented on how they didn't even notice them snapping away and the shots I had asked to be captured during the day were done so because they remembered to grab us and take us to one side. Everyone is laughing their heads off on each photo and even Dave is smiling too! We wouldn't have chosen anyone else to capture our day and they are just awesome.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | All of the detail, apart from the floral table centres, was put together by myself. Doing this with a newborn baby proved to be a little difficult but I was determined to make it bespoke and individual to us as a couple. I drew the floral design myself for the Save the Dates and Invite bundles and this set off the whole of the wedding stationery and décor. It also inspired which flowers would be used so everything flowed beautifully. I sourced a vintage suitcase off eBay for our cards, along with the frame for the table plan and gathered vases for patterned straws at the bar. I handmade a hanging photo booth and lace backdrop and provided props for guests to take some #selfies with. We had a date jar for guests to suggest dates for our anniversaries and old photos of family weddings. I also made little children's packages, which included a puzzle book, pencil crayons and some bubbles tied together with twine to keep them occupied during dinner. Along with my Mother in Law, we sewed lavender hanging hearts for guests to take home with them and made countless amounts of paper pom poms with pink, gold, white and mustard tissue paper to set alight the colour scheme (which kind of just stumbled together!) A prop was laid on each place with the place card asking each guest to take a selfie and put on our wedpics page using our wedding ID - this was so much fun and got everyone snapping away! It was also a step away from a traditional favour and made sure each guest had a photo - because who doesn't like a selfie with a silly moustache! My small collection of vintage teacups, were used for sweets on the table with handmade miniature signs, as Dave and I have a major sweet tooth! I could have carried on and on as I loved doing it so much but there becomes a point when you could have everything you see on Pinterest but end up with a mass of trends and styles. I am now starting to design bespoke wedding stationery and wedding styling as a little business - I already have three weddings this year to work on and I'm planning my imaginary second wedding of course!

THE HONEYMOON | We have booked to go away to Southern Spain in September with our daughter on our "Familymoon" and we went on a minimoon to the Lake District the weekend after the wedding.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The amazing Howard Wing had us all up doing the Love Train during dessert and dancing on the dance floor before the night had even started!! Also standing at the back of the Church waiting to walk down the aisle was more emotional than I thought it would be and I loved seeing all of our family and friends standing there supporting us on our day. Oh and my Bridesmaid Sarah's Fiance falling flat into a bush at the end of the night - a fab day had by all!!

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Be yourselves!! The best weddings are those which truly reflect you as a couple. Think about what's important to you and pick and choose wisely. I am so happy we decided to spend money on entertainment as no matter how pretty your wedding is, the entertainment and party is what your Guests will take away with them. You will have some major stressful times before the big day but everything will be perfect. Take a deep breath, grab a glass of prosecco and enjoy it. Oh and don't forget to take it all in and look around at your guests having the best day ever.
