Mary and Ted got engaged the day they brought their newborn son home from the hospital. "Ted proposed to me with a little moustache ring to represent our little man," Mary smiles. "It was the most perfect moment-us and our newborn bundle of joy."

The couple wanted their blended family to be represented in their wedding ceremony through a candy-jar ceremony. "Ted has two sons and we have our little guy Teddy," Mary explains. "When we each poured our candy into the big jar, it symbolized that we became one big family-officially. The kids loved picking out their favourite candy and having their own jar to pour into the big 'us' jar. And then eating from it, of course!"

The wedding ceremony took place outside at Ted's parents' home overlooking the Saint Lawrence River. Mary and Ted wrote their own vows. "Ted's vows made me dissolve into laughter and tears, and I had to read mine off my phone," Mary laughs. "Our officiant got a kick out of that!"

A pub-party reception took place after the couple exchanged vows. "Our food was amazing: pulled pork sliders, mini mac 'n' cheeses, deep-fried dill pickles, fries and doughnuts," Mary says. "We didn't have any long speeches and our party wasn't terribly formal, just loads of eating, drinking and being merry."

The three wedding cakes were made by Mary's sister-in-law Rosie, the owner of Sweetapolita. The three-tiered cakes in shades of blue ruffled fondant were one of the highlights of the day. "They had amazing things on the inside: s'mores, Neapolitan and strawberry macarons, and salted caramel shortbread crumble," Mary recalls. "They were absolutely divine!"
