How To: Cutting Your Crease

How To: Cutting Your Crease

via

By now, we all know the basics: how to create the perfect smoky eye, cat eye and a shimmery, gilded eye. And, while we have a VERY special place in our hearts (and beauty routine) for these classic looks, sometimes we need a new challenge. This eye shadow technique has flown under the radar for a while, but once we discovered it's magical abilities, we just had to share! That's why we enlisted the help of makeup genius Alana Dawn to show us how to master the eye accentuating method of crease-cutting!

Step 1:
Apply primer to the eyelid, then dust on a beige or nude-colored base shadow to the lid.

Step 2:
Using an angled shadow brush or kohl liner, draw a line along your crease (try L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Smoldering) from the outer corner, in. Softly blur out the line using a flat shadow brush. Take a darker shadow that's similar to the liner you used on your crease and dust it just over the crease, then blend it out gently.

Step 3:
Dab a bit of concealer directly on the lid, making sure to not paint over the crease. Brush a peach or beige shimmery shadow (try NYX Prismatic Shadow in Girl Talk) on the lid. Be liberal with your application, so that the lid is saturated.

Step 4:
Line your upper lash line with a black liquid liner, winging it at the ends.
