Melissa and Ryan's wedding is the sort of next-level charming that inspires serious envy. Full of megawatt smiles, cutie-patootie details, and a mouth-watering pie buffet, this Portland-area event is the perfect combo of rustic and lighthearted. Thank you to Powers Photography Studio s for sharing this special wedding with us! And make sure to read below for the bride's insight into planning.

Our Favorite Things:
  • The camping-themed favor table with saplings for guests
  • The use of the groom's unusual last name, Kale, throughout their details
  • Pink. Heart. Sunglasses.

What was most important for you to include in your wedding - what was your biggest priority?

We like all things fun and we really concentrated on creating a day that was focused on having fun, being goofy and letting all our guests know how much their presence and support throughout our relationship meant to us. We also really wanted to include our dog. Didn't he look dapper in his suit?

What was your favorite detail?

I especially loved our table numbers all wood burned by hand by my brother from a large branch that fell off our favorite birch tree in our yard. I never knew just how crafty he was! Ryan loved our cake topper that was purchased from Etsy.

What was your wedding theme or style? How did you choose your theme?

We wanted a woodsy camping feel to our wedding. We actually met through mutual friends on a camping trip 6 years prior and we got engaged at a campground as well! Camping is a big part of who we are as a couple and has always been a time when we can just slow down and enjoy life's adventures together.

Five words (or less) that describe the two of you and your wedding:

Overwhelming love, laughter and gratitude

Your first dance song and why you chose it:

"That's How Strong My Love Is" by Otis Redding. This song just gets me. Just try to listen to it and not turn into a pile of romantic goo!

What is your advice to couples who are planning weddings now?

Make sure you take advantage of all the chances to try free cake...just kidding...(kind of)!

Things won't go according to plan and most things won't turn out like they look on Pinterest (or at least not with my crafting skills), but the sooner you let go of every detail the more things just fall into place. It rained on our wedding day which was completely unaligned with my outdoor wedding plans, but it all worked out. This leads me to my other advice have a little bit of a backup plan for rain, especially in Oregon!
