Indigo Wedding Inspiration on the Italian Lakes | Fly Away Bride

This beautiful styled shoot was captured on the shores of Lake Orta in Italy, on the grounds of the San Rocco Hotel which sits facing San Giulio Island. Lake Orta is the less well known yet some say most charming of Italy's northern lakes- the others being Lake Maggiore, Lake Como and Lake Garda- and the small town of Orta San Giulio is a gorgeous location for a destination wedding. The shoot is a collaboration between destination wedding photographer Paola Colleoni, fashion designer Serena Poletto Ghella and destination wedding planner Barbara Pederzini . It is the first of three projects inspired by colors, and it draws its inspiration from the color indigo blue, and the mood originating from it. We adore the stationery kit designed by Caratterino which draws on the metaphor of navigation, featuring the outline of a nautical map and stars providing directions with gold foil lettering and details.

The wedding table sits in garden of the Villa Gippini, the historical part of San Rocco Hotel, under the trees in of this 17th century building overlooking the lake. Laid out on blue-striped linens, the tableware is vintage crockery and glassware and white and blue china with golden accents. Simple white hydrangeas elegantly serve as centerpiece. The dessert table was set up on one of the balconies overlooking the garden, dressed in a blue toile de jouy tablecloth, with home made tarts and biscuits. Wedding favors 'baci di dama' (kiss of a woman) also sit on the table: there hazelnut biscuits are a local produce of Piedmont, the region where Lake Orta is located.

Julia Jönsson models both of the bridal looks, with two dramatic outfits designed and styled by Serena Poletto Ghella, a white ensemble made of a silk tunic and an organza cape and a layered outfit in shades of blue, with an organza top and multilayered tulle skirt. The tulle skirt iss also paired with a handmade knit sweater to accompany the bride in the evening chill towards the end of the festivities. The bouquet is a creation of Sofia Barozzi of Il Profumo dei Fiori, while hair and make-up were styled by Stella Mongodi of Organic Brides.
