Mountain destination weddings can be such beautiful events, especially in the winter. We've selected 5 lovely locations to help you find the best mountain for your event!

Aspen, CO

Few mountain settings are more picturesque than The Rockies. Aspen is no exception with its sweeping views and quaint town. As with most towns centered around a ski resort, this community is bursting with things to do in the winter (although, summer also has its fair share of fun activities). Go skiing, snowboarding, or take a snowmobile tour of Buttermilk, Snowmass, and the Maroon Bells. When it comes to your destination wedding planning, Aspen has all of the charm you are looking for in a high-altitude event. Host your event at one of the many lodges, and include a helpful itinerary for your guests to help them discover all of the cold-weather fun available.

Jackson Hole, WY

While Jackson Hole may have once enjoyed being a hidden gem, the world has now taken notice. One of the hottest rugged vacation spots, it's the perfect location for a wedding filled with mountain vista backdrops and ranch-meets-glam aesthetic. Especially if you want a mountain wedding with a small guest list, consider more intimate spaces, such as a local cafe or a fireside meeting space at a lodge. After the wedding, head to Yellowstone or Grand Teton National Park for some spectacular sightseeing.

Mt. Hood, OR

While there are certainly plenty of places to have a wintry wedding at Mt. Hood, we're also pretty big fans of off-season weddings in the area. The mountain covered in snow during late fall and spring can be magical, whether covered in orange leaves or blooming with new flowers. Fans of an ultra-outdoorsy camping wedding? Check out Trillium Lake (pictured above). Want to celebrate in a bit of history? Head to Timberline Lodge for a wedding in the hotel used for the exterior shots in The Shining. Only a short drive from Portland, your guests will easily be able to travel to this mountain event!

Asheville, NC

While the Great Smoky Mountains are not as high an elevation as the others on this list, they offer an equally astounding view. Often cloaked in blue-gray fog, this mountain range is one of the most beautiful locations in the eastern U.S. A mountain wedding here merges fresh air with Southern hospitality. This town knows how to host an event! From glamorous hotels to quiet retreats, you have your pick of venues. If you go during the summer, make sure to take your guests on a hike through the Great Smokies for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Leavenworth, WA

This tiny Bavarian-themed hamlet is nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains. An absolute winter wonderland during the holiday season, a mountain destination wedding here is a very festive event. The town is filled with tiny inns that are ideal for smaller weddings, but there are also a few venues for those with larger guest lists. With modern microbreweries and tasting rooms rising in popularity, there are also plenty of unconventional locations to consider. If you are going during the winter, consider taking the train from Seattle to avoid dealing with the mountain pass traffic. Different tours can transport you to the ski slopes from Leavenworth.
