Our offbeat wedding at a glance:

Justin and I have always shared a fondness for video games, comic book characters, and costumes. What better way to celebrate our interests than to make them a part of our DC superhero wedding celebration? Unfortunately, my mother was supposed to portray the Poison Ivy character from the Batman series, but she died shortly before the event. I'd like to be able to share the first happy day that I experienced after her passing with everyone who shares a love for these same characters and my family that remains.

Tell us about the ceremony:

We had a simple ceremony on the beach including these DC characters (our family and friends): Joker, Harley Quinn, Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Riddler, Penguin, Supergirl, John Constantine, Zatanna, Catwoman, Talia al Ghul, and the Spirit.

Tell us about your reception:

Our reception included dinner and a cake topped with a giant homemade "bomb!"

What was your most important lesson learned?

The hardest part was getting everyone dressed and ready, as most of our family isn't as into cosplay as us. Fortunately, it was well worth it and everyone had a great time, which we knew they would.
