Friends and family were sure that long-time couple and avid travellers Lisa and Michael would becoming engaged on one of their many trips. "After a few years together you're asked by almost everyone you know after every trip: 'So, did it happen?!'" Lisa says. Michael, on the other hand, had a completely different plan in store.

After heading out to their favourite pizza place on their seven-year anniversary, Michael told Lisa he had a gift waiting for her back at home. To her surprise, he had put together a slideshow full of hundreds of photos filled with relationship highlights. "At the end of the slideshow, he got down on one knee with our two rescue dogs beside him, and asked me to marry him," says Lisa. "He now tells people that, sure, he could have done it on any one of our trips. However, he wanted me to be completely surprised, surrounded by the most important things in our lives, in our new home," she adds.

The magic continued on into their wedding day. The couple exchanged vows at the riverside in Michael's parent's backyard. "The raw emotion you feel at that moment was better than we had ever imagined," Lisa remembers.

The ceremony was followed by a reception at The Gates on Roblin designed to reflect the beauty of nature. "It was exactly how I had envisioned it," says Lisa. "Like we were sitting in a secret garden."
