What Brides Could Learn From Rachele Lynae

So you're getting hitched? Awesome. Congrats to you and your lovely fiancé.

If you're doing most of the planning/organising, let me take a stab in the dark and say that you're probably flat out like a lizard drinking (that's Australian for: Very. Freakin'. Busy.). Am I getting warmer..?

If you're a fan of CMT, you may recognise Rachele as one of their flock. But as an in demand up-and-coming country music artist, Rachele Lynae is just like every other busy, time poor bride-to-be when it comes to her wedding planning. But when I caught up with her for a chat, it also struck me how very different she is from a lot of the brides I meet every day. So what can we learn from Rachele Lynae? I'm glad you asked..

1) Rachele's hubby-to-be, Tim, arranged the most ridiculously elaborate and sweet proposal (think: beautiful lighting design, arches, hanging photographs of them, chilled champagne and their friends waiting out the back to congratulate them etc.) and although she is eager and excited to talk about it, she's not obnoxious about it. She doesn't make you feel sorry that you asked.

The lesson?
A self-aware bride-to-be is worth her weight in gold - especially to her friends and family who have to be around her for the 12 months or so between the engagement and the big day.

2) Engaged last September, they decided to get married sooner rather than later. Their rationale; why wait?

The lesson?
You can stretch out your engagement to give you time to save money or for circumstantial reasons, but essentially; life is short. Extra Bridechilla Club points for those considering eloping.

3) Rachele is a natural organizer and is very 'hands-on' with her music career (check out her new music video for Quicksand) and is carrying that through to her wedding planning, without being a control freak. She uses a combination of lists (analogue) and a wedding app (digital) to reduce the likelihood of stressing over tasks that she may have forgotten.

The lesson?
See lesson 1 re being a self-aware bride.

4) When looking for inspiration, Rachele turns to Pinterest, when looking for unique products she turns to Etsy, but essentially, because she established their country-chic theme to match their personalities and venue early on, when suffering from indecision or overwhelm, she'll always come back to that.

The lesson?
Decide on a theme early and ensure it's true to your personalities, so you can use it as a 'measuring stick' for all off your decisions - there will be a lot of them!

5) Rachele's best advice for other brides and grooms-to-be? "Although there may be stressful moments, don't forget why you're doing it. It's all about you and your husband-to-be. Remember to enjoy yourself and be grateful."

The lesson?
What she said.
