There's something romantic and magical about being surrounded by nature. Marc and Sonja were married in Oakfield, encircled by gorgeous green trees and lush gardens. Romance was certainly in the air, as the pair were wed in a lovely quaint chapel.

Lovebirds | How did you two meet?

Sonja's sister (Carlien) and her husband (Erhardt) thought we were the perfect match - Erhardt, being a good friend of Marc. They proceeded to set us up at Carlien's 21st birthday party. We initially tried to just be friends, due to our 5,5 year age gap, but Marc needed a date for his sister, Lee-Ann's, wedding coming up so we spent a lot of time together. After dancing the night away at their wedding, we sat outside under a beautiful starry sky, Marc asked if Sonja would do him the honour of being his girlfriend and so our most amazing journey began.

I said Yes! | How did the proposal go down?

It was Christmas eve and our 3 year & 3 month anniversary. We attended a midnight Christmas service at a quaint church in Belvidere, Knysna. After the service Marc took us to a romantic lookout point, with a view over Knysna's lights - one of our favourite places. With a chilled bottle of champange ready, Marc went down on one knee and popped the question to an unsuspecting Sonja. The answer was obviously yes. We went for a moonlight stroll on the beach, still bubbling over with excitement, before waking the family with the news.

The Big Day | Tell us the most memorable moment of your wedding day

Sonja: Riding in on my horse and carriage, walking down the ailse to the most beautiful song, tears streaming down my cheeks, having the church service in a picturesque church and saying our vows to each other, meaning each and every word.

Marc: It is impossible to single out a specific moment but I recon it is the realisation that this beautiful woman standing in front of me is now my wife.

Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides?

Planning: Focus on the bigger picture, remember why you are getting married and do not get too caught up in every single small detail, thus do not over-research (it will tire you out unneccesarily). Also remember it is about sharing your special day with the people who mean the most to you, so make sure they enjoy your day too.
On your wedding day: Delegate everything, give your phone to someone else and enjoy every single moment.
