Fun Color Pop Wedding in Atlanta: Laura + Thomas

Laura + Thomas' quirky style, playful personalities + keen attention to detail made their Atlanta Contemporary Art Center wedding a huge success and a ton of fun! They worked alongside the creative Kristine of Simply Charming Socials and decided to utilize the artsy backdrop of the Art Center (think stark white gallery walls and avant garde installations) to their advantage when planning out the details.

Laura tells us, We wanted our wedding to be fun and laid-back, a wedding that would surprise and delight our guests while staying true our personalities. Thomas and I are not fussy people so fun was the priority. We both love contemporary art so that combined with the location of our wedding lead us to look to colorful modern art, particularly Mark Rothko, when planning the aesthetic.

Thanks so much to Diamond Eyes Photography for the beautiful photos + congrats to L + T on their recent marriage!

Um, YES to that bouquet, right?! It was made by Sherry at Gertie Mae's + we are loving its super bright hues!

Definitely the ceremony. I didn't expect to be as nervous and excited as I was! We had a very close friend officiate the wedding which was so special and helped me to focus on him and Thomas and less on standing in front of so many people! Thomas' sister and my brother both read poems and we recited our own (identical) vows. It felt very honest and sweet.

The other most memorable moment was when we first walked into the reception and saw all of our guests wearing their colorful paper crowns! My family always had paper crackers and wore the crowns at Christmas dinner and I thought it would be such a fun thing to have custom crackers as our favor. I wasn't sure if people would open them or just take them home, and it really was perfect to walk into the room and see all of our guests wearing silly paper crowns and having a great time.

We adore the artful, color pop theme carried throughout the reception space!

Guests were treated to a sampling of sweets - Donuts by Sublime Doughnuts, pies by The Pie Shop, and assorted small bites by Sun in my Belly!

Processional: Appalachia Waltz - Mark O'Connor, Yo-Yo Ma, and Edgar Meyer, and Vivaldi's Concerto in D, RV 93-II Largo

Recessional: Bright Whites - Kishi Bashi

First Dance: In My Life - The Beatles

Don't procrastinate, and invest in someone to help you, at least with coordination! Kristine from Simply Charming Socials did full planning, design, and coordination for us and it was invaluable to have her there every step of the way, talking me down when I'd get overwhelmed and helping form our disparate ideas into a beautiful, cohesive event.
