Allison and Matthew first met and started dating in Providence, Rhode Island, so it only made sense that he took her back to the place where their love story began to propose. Surprising her with a romantic scavenger hunt around town, Matthew led Allison from clue to clue, each one holding a special significance that only she would understand. At the end of the hunt, Allison reached her reward when Matthew got down on one knee and proposed!

Their wedding was a simple, rustic affair at the Mennonite Heritage Village in Steinbach, Manitoba. With a colour scheme of white, blush pink and green, the decor was kept easy and natural with shabby-chic furniture and plenty of plant life. "We chose these colours because they complemented each other very well with their soft tones," Allison explains. The flowers fit the theme of untouched beauty with wild, leafy bouquets for the bride and bridesmaids and muted rose boutonnieres for the groomsmen.

The ceremony took place outdoors in a secluded, wooded area facing an old-fashioned windmill. With rugged white benches, charming double doors and wildflower-filled mason jars lining the aisles, the setting was relaxed and understated. "When I walked down the aisle I was waiting behind the closed doors, and when the doors opened I was surprised to see my groom already crying," Allison reminisces. "The moment was very special for both of us as we felt the reality of the day hit us - that we would be spending our lives together." Once the bride and groom had said their vows (and shed a tear or two!), guests tossed confetti in celebration.

While the ceremony was held outdoors, the reception took place in the venue's barn, which was filled with dazzling fairy lights, candles and lovely blush pink and white table settings lined with even more greenery. The couple says they had a blast dancing the night away and catching up with their friends and family. "We had a great time interacting with the guests as they competed through dance for the chance to be the first table to receive dessert later that evening," Allison laughs.
