Love in the Golden Hour ♥

On the day that Mackenzie and Halbert were married it was a beautiful, and stormy. While this made from dramatic, moody images of another kind, the two really wanted to capture dreamy golden hour portraits. The ones that their photographer, Ginny Silver of Retrospect Images, is so gifted at capturing!

They planned a post wedding portrait session a few months later when the weather warmed up - and were able to bring along their adorable dog, Baxter to join in on the fun! We love puppies!

Using a neutral palette of golds, subtle pinks and white, Mackenzie worked with floral designer Gavita Flora to create a n absolutely dreamy bundle of blooms. It was the perfect complement to her flower crown made by friends with flowers from the SF Flower Mart. Of course we cannot stop swooning of her spectacular Anna Campbell wedding gown, offset by a beautifully boho fishtail side braid by JBeautique.

And let's not even get started on that luminous, golden light...

Love Story: Halbert and I were introduced by a mutual friend just 8 days after I moved to San Francisco. I don't remember much of our initial conversation...Halbert will say that's a good thing, since he told a bad joke anyway. After several more weeks and several more encounters, we found ourselves caught in conversations, record player dances and constant laughter. Right under our noses, it happened - we fell in love!

Proposal: The proposal took a lot of planning, secrets, and people. A girlfriend of mine asked me to brunch weeks in advance at a great spot in North Beach, near the famous Coit Tower. I live in the area, so she came over to my place early for a little morning tea and to relax before stuffing our faces. While we were sipping and chatting, our other girlfriend sent us a text. She was at Coit Tower on a morning date and would we join her to say hi?

So we hiked up the steep steps to the base of the tower on this perfectly clear Saturday morning. We looked around for our friend, but instead I spotted Halbert, dressed to the nines and holding a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

He led me up the elevator and through an inconspicuous service door, in the opposite direction of all the people. On the other side, I got the final shock. He had taken me to a private balcony of the tower with the most beautiful views of the city. Candles, music and more flowers were already waiting for us as he got down on one knee. Of course I said yes!

To top it off, our closest friends were waiting on the other side of the tower to surprise me with their congratulations!
