Inspired by our friends, The House that Lars Built, we wanted to create a fun and simple DIY picnic blanket that went along with our picnic theme. We love the idea of creating comfy spots for your guests to relax-pillows, flowers and a sweet picnic basket tie the whole look together. Plus, it truly is a great way to sit, relax and soak it all in!

Thanks so much to Katie Brazeal of Shindig Weddings and Events for helping to create this sweet little picnic spot at our BBQ welcome dinner! Try making this gingham picnic blanket for yourself, and be sure to tag us in your photos!

Step 1: Iron your drop cloth canvas to get all the wrinkles out.
Step 2: Use your pencil and your T-square or ruler to create gridded lines. We made our lines 6 inches apart on both sides, so you'll end up with 6 in x 6 in squares.
Step 3: With the gingham pattern, there are more gray squares than black squares. Because our canvas was white/off-white, we only painted black and gray. We chose to paint all our gray squares first, which was every other square.
Step 4: Once you have all your gray squares painted, move onto black! Tip: We printed out a gingham pattern while painting, as it's easy to lose track of your pattern!
Step 5: Let dry and enjoy!
