This stunning new venue, which joined our festival wedding directory last week, offers everything you could possibly want in an outdoor wedding venue and I am so excited to be sharing it with you all today. It has amazing views, a picturesque lake, a woodland, 2 tipi tents large enough to accommodate 200 people (120 seated), a champagne shack bar and a beautiful Victorian Showman's Wagon intended for the bride and groom to use as their private dressing room for the day and evening.

The best part about this venue is it has plans to become fully licensed for civil ceremonies by 2017. Yes - you will be able to legally get married either in the gorgeous woodland or by the lake in the open air surrounded by the most stunning countryside views. Sounds good doesn't it!?

Wilderness encapsulates everything you could want from an outdoor wedding - a private rural location, hidden away in the idyllic Kent countryside with old oak trees, meadows, woodland, a picturesque lake with wild swans and rolling countryside as far as the eye can see. The site is also famous for it's spectacular sunsets and was the inspiration behind some of the best work from the famous painter Turner.

The fun starts from the word go! You and your guests get to enjoy a mysterious journey into the Wilderness on fun vintage buses arranged for you by the venue, so your day unravels in an extraordinary way. Guests are intrigued as to where they are going and love their group adventure. They arrive along the winding lanes for the big reveal...2 incredible Tipi tents which sit against the skyline and are nestled in amongst the hillside. Vintage swing boats, a rustic champagne shack bar and intriguing walkways into the wilderness and woodland beyond are all waiting for them to explore.

There are three lands at Wilderness: Deerson Lake & Meadow, St Mildred's Wood and Wilderness Valley. Your guests are guided throughout the lands, and what ever the weather they can take shelter in the magnificent tipis or woodland cabin.

A Woodland Ceremony....

The woodland cabin is nestled in amongst the wild ferns and statuesque trees of St Mildred's Wood. You can marry inside this space whilst looking out at the expanse of lush green fields beyond. This space is large enough for 120 guests and your drinks reception can also be served nearby in the dappled light of the woodland clearing.

A Waterside Ceremony....

If you would prefer to have a waterside ceremony, get married down the valley by the idyllic Deerson lake, surrounded by bull rushes, wild flowers, butterflies, woodpeckers and swans. There are uninterrupted views out across the Wilderness and beyond. Ceremonies take place in a fantastic open sided wooden tower decorated in ribbon streamers and giant dream catchers. You will be surrounded by wild scented flowers like honeysuckle, bluebells, Foxgloves, as well as rare birds such as Hoopo, Sky Larks and Marsh Harriers. It is a totally tranquil space, where you are immersed in nature, with only the cattle grazing quietly nearby on the meadow.

Wilderness provide you with two large tipis which accommodate 120 people seated for the wedding breakfast and up to 200 people for the evening. They also provide all the flooring, fairy lights, furniture and staff you will need. You can dance the night away in the wonderful canvas tipis under the stars.

Wilderness also provide all the less glam things you will need such as nice loos, blankets at night time to keep your guests cosy and heating generally for the tipis. They have been running weddings for a number of years so have a huge range of carefully selected suppliers from florists to video booth hire, evening food suggestions and more to help you plan your day.

The food here is heavenly! Wilderness have hand picked local caterers who have foraged, sourced and even grown their own fodder - delicious BBQ's, traditional hog roast and pretty much anything from around the globe or even grown in the field next door. Local Kentish lamb, beef, free range chicken and fish caught in nearby Whitstable. As the food it such an important element to the day, we make sure it is theatrical, mouth watering and fun.

You can bring your own wine and beer or buy though their licensed bar. Their friendly staff will talk you through all the options and they have their own carefully selected wine list, as well as artisan beers and refreshing cocktails, inspired by the wilderness setting.

There are lots of local accommodation for you to choose from, from grand country houses to hotels, B&B's and quirky pubs with rooms. You can even make a weekend of it and hire a barn for the weekend to accommodate all the family.

The venue hire varies between £5500-£7500 plus VAT and includes the following:

EXCLUSIVE use of....

• The Wonderful Cabin in the Woods with lovely views out across Wilderness and to the lake. This area will be licensed for civil ceremonies. It will also have a large tent attached for the guests to sit within and will be a magical space. It is in such a lovely tranquil spot, nestled in amongst the ferns and old oak trees.
• The Meadow Field with Lake - this is also another option for outside civil ceremonies down by the lakeside and it such a pretty spot.
• The Wilderness Field which consists of lovely sloping fields which have lovely mature oak trees and chestnut trees. This also has magnificent views across the valley.
• 2 Large Kata Tipi tents which are just magical. This space will be large enough to seat 120 guests

Also included is:

• all the flooring, lighting and heating for the wedding. Fairy & Festoon lighting which is lovely at night time.
• A generator for power
• Banqueting tables and chairs
• All the staffing for the day. Usually between 6 -12 waiting staff
• A Dedicated Venue Manager all day and evening on your wedding day to help run everything
• Use of the Champagne Shack Bar
• All Glassware, wine glasses, champagne flutes, water glasses and beer glasses are included.
