Customizing the musical selections for your wedding ceremony is one great way to personalize your big day! Though some officiants may require you to stick to traditional songs, other will be more than happy to work with you in personalizing your wedding ceremony.

1. The Prelude:
   Celebratory but subtle background music that plays as guests arrive. This should start between 15-30 minutes before the ceremony begins.
2. The Processional:
   This signals the start of the ceremony and continues to play as the bridal party walks down the aisle. Couples can choose to have a second song strike up when the bride appears at the aisle.
3. The Interlude:
   This is a featured song that is played to highlight certain moments in the ceremony, such as the moment of prayer, the lighting of unity candles etc..
4. The Recessional:
   This is the song that plays as the newly married couple walks back up the aisle as husband and wife.
5. The Postlude:
   Similar to the prelude but a little more upbeat. This is what plays in the background as guests exit the ceremony area.
6. Things to keep in mind:
   When choosing your ceremony music, aim to keep the music within the style structure and formality of your wedding vision. A church wedding does not require all music to be religious, but you want to be mindful of the location and respectful of the event. With that said, keep your religious and cultural backgrounds in mind. Your officiant can offer some guidance with acceptable music selections. Also, confirm with the officiant or the person in charge of the ceremony site whether a particular music coordinator, musician, or singer will need to be used.
