Delle and Dickie's Festival Themed Rustic DIY Wedding

Delle and Dickie's Festival Themed Rustic DIY Wedding

via

Afternoon Lovely Peeps, I hope you all had a great weekend.

I have been so looking forward to sharing today's festival themed wedding with you. Delle and Dickie said I do on the 16th July 2017 at one of our preferred Festival Brides venues - our Wildflower Meadow, Woodland and Tipi in Essex. This is a gorgeous place to get married (as you are about to see) and Delle and Dickie's wedding really did bring the space to life with their cool and quirky ideas, gorgeous smiles and happy guests. After meeting them both in 2016 and hearing how excited they were about the venue and their wedding, it means so much to see them both so happy in these photos. Their wedding looks so much fun and they have most definitely captured that festival vibe.....

We both love going to festivals and wanted to recreate the place we love the most with the people we loved the most. We have such a shared love of music, good food, good drinks, the outdoors and great company and wanted a day filled of love and glitter.

With personlised festival style cups as favours, DIY signs, gold and silver tattoos, face glitter, fancy dress, 3 different sets of entertainment and a pair of sparkly converse, this wedding most definiyely ticks all of our festival boxes.

Delle and Dickie talk us through their awesome day....

We both share a love of rock climbing and on a wet and windy afternoon in October, Dickie persuaded Delle to go on a camping trip to their favourite place to climb near Tunbridge Wells called Harrison's Rocks. We climbed to the top and after persuading Delle to look at the view across Kent, Dickie got down on one knee and proposed. We then drank Champagne that Dickie had hidden in the bag and celebrated in the local village pub!

We go to quite a lot of festivals and love a weekend of fun and friends in a field so wanted to create our own! We handmade pretty much everything ourselves with the help of our mums making miles of bunting to decorate the place! We had table bunting and pots of flowers and handwritten table names to dress the tables. Dickie designed a logo for plastic recyclable cups usually used at festivals for people to have as favours and we filled these with glo sticks for the guests. We had festoon and fairy lights and small hanging tins hand painted and decorated with candles in. We painted signs with chalk paint to send everyone in the right directions for the wedding. We also had a table which had glitter, gold and silver tattoos and stick on gems for people to feel they were suitably decorated for a festival!! We also had a string of small card triangles for people to write on as bunting for a guest book which is a lovely keepsake we have up in the house still! We also borrowed a disco ball to hang in the main tipi.

We found our woodland and tipi meadow in Essex on the the Festival Brides Website after their site was recommended to us by a friend. Our ceremony was in the woodland by the river on hay bales and was led by good friend Elizabeth Day. I walked in to "Can't Do Without You" by Caribou and walked out to "DnD" by Semisonic. We then had our reception within the venue's 2 giant hat tipis in the meadow. All our friends camped or rented bell tents from the venue and we stayed in the amazing railways carriages on the venue.

We had a delicious hog roast from local company " The Jolly Meat Company". They were incredible and gave us so much choice with the various salads and sides! We also had the amazing " Baytree Pizza Company " based in Suffolk serving five different types of delicious pizza. We also had a tower of cheese bought from a cheese shop in Kent and arranged by good friend Lottie Webster.

Dickie's 10 piece brass band called the Old Dirty Brasstards provided our evening entertainmany followed by good friends and DJs Kim Hillyard, Joe Selwyn, Mike Barnard, Ben Mahon. We then had a Silent Disco by The Silent Disco Company.

Delle: my favourite moment was walking down the aisle and seeing so many people I love in one beautiful place and seeing Dickie at the end.

Dickie: Seeing Delle appear at the end of the aisle in the woodland.

Add as many personal touches as you can because they are the things that will mean the most and that people will remember! We just got so many people involved in the planning and creation of our wedding. The cakes, flowers, wine, prosecco, Cumbrian Ale, cheese tower, band, DJs, wedding dress, bunting, signs and ceremony words were all created or supplied by our friends that were already guests the wedding. It was so amazing to have so many people be such big parts of our day and made the whole thing so personal. It really meant that we couldn't have done it without them and that our entire day was supported by so many people already there. (or maybe we just called in loads of favours!)
