Today's wedding has a classic and timeless look and feel, which we absolutely love. Henco and Nicole's celebration took place at the beautiful Memoire Wedding Venue and In Abundance Photography took these amazing pictures.

Lovebirds | How did you two meet?
There is an old Asian legend, akin to how we think of soul mates: "Two people connected by invisible red thread are destined lovers, regardless of place, time or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but will never break."We met 13 years ago, over Gin & Tonics, as law students. Young fools as we were, our friendship never quite managed to take flight into something else but we kept in touch, even when Henco moved 12000km away to Malta. Through years of longing and regret, that piece of red string finally pulled taught, and I finally had the guts to fly to Malta in June 2015. The rest as they say, is history.

I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?
Long distance relationships are a challenge, but early on we committed to see each other every three months - hell or high water be damned! In March 2016,I flew out to Malta for one such visit. I had barely arrived, only to be whisked away on a surprise weekend trip to Istanbul. He asked me at sunset, as we look out on the Bosphorus river, listening to the evening call to prayer. Surrounded by centuries of history and mystique around us, I said yes as he slipped on the ring he had chosen - nothing more than a piece of red string.

The Big Day | What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
We were expecting hellish heat on our wedding day, with the 4th of January being smack dab in the middle of summer. But as I walked into the church, the heavens opened and we were blessed with rain. For us that was so symbolic, the heavens opening up with abundance as we said 'I do'. After all was said and done, we walked down to the river in the quiet darkness. Nothing was said, we simply listened to our laughing departing guests in the background, and breathed in the moment.

Describe your wedding day in one sentence
A day of peace and gratitude, as two friends finally said I do.

Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides?
It is so easy to get swept away in the details, there is a strange frenzy that attaches to the planning process. Even though I was an older less traditional bride, I found that frenzy occasionally snapping at my heels. When that happens, and you begin to feel overwhelmed, just step back. Center yourself and bring yourself back to the moment. What we focus on expands, and the success of your day won't hinge on the the perfect shade of flowers, or french lace or imported fairy lights. By being flexible you will enjoy the process so much more, and try to keep the focus on what really matters to you on that day. Focus on the love.
