Morning Lovely People and Happy Monday! I hope you all had a good weekend. We have such an epic festival wedding to share with you today which is full of great ideas, awesome suppliers and plenty of festival wedding decor inspiration. In the words of the bride and groom themselves, it was their own 'mini glastonury' where the focus was on good food, good music, good people, good vibes and beautiful surroundings - everything you would expect a festival wedding to have.....

Having been to festivals such as Glastonbury, Isle of Wight, Reading and other smaller events, we just loved the vibe, the good food & drink and being outdoors on a sunny day!

Captured brilliantly by Olliver Photography, Sharon and Neil wanted their wedding to be informal and fun for everyone involved. There was an impressive music line up of not 1 but 6 bands and they also had a hula hoop performance with tutorials provided by the amazing Marawas Majorettes.

Well we love camping and the great outdoors and in May 2015 we took ourselves off in Walter (our Campervan), along with our two beautiful hounds Cromwell & Willow, for a tour around France for two weeks. Our first stop was at a beautiful campsite called Camp Laurent in Charente that was run by Tracey & Pete. The place was so beautiful and tranquil and on Sunday 17 ^th we decided to go kayaking and find a little spot along the river for a picnic. Little did I know that my now husband was nervously navigating the river with an engagement ring in his life jacket and a bottle of Bolly in his rucksack! We found a little secluded spot, it was a beautiful warm, sunny day and once we'd moored up and got comfy, Neil took me by complete surprise by getting down on one knee and asking me to be his wife! It was so romantic and a complete surprise...a day never to be forgotten and we'll definitely be going back to Camp Laurent for an anniversary in the not too distant future.

Our wedding was held in a field on Eridge Road in Kent. We met Barry & Janie Langridge, the owners of the field, via Emma Welch, who was our good friend and local pub landlord at the time. Emma knew we were looking for a field locally and knowing her patrons so well, she put us in touch. Both Barry & Janie were really supportive of all our ideas and were so kind letting us have their field for our special day. We had over 110 guests camping, the field was full of tents, campervans and motorhomes so it really had that festival feeling.

Having both been married before, we wanted to do something totally away from the norm and be completely untraditional. Our vision was a mini Glastonbury! To get our nearest and dearest all together and have a relaxed day with no formality, just great music, entertainment and food and drink throughout the day. We wanted Christian & Dan (our amazing photographers) to document the day for us, so no staged family photos, just capturing moments that we could look back on.

Even our actual wedding ceremony was 'different'...our dear friend Mark Connolly got himself ordained by the Universal Life Church and we had the most beautiful, personalised ceremony which was both hilarious and heart-warming and again completely untraditional (we were officially married the week before at the local registry office).

All bespoke wooden wedding furniture was made and designed by GrainSoup.com...it gave such a lovely, rustic feel and was really comfy!

We used hay bales to create areas such as more seating/tables, stages and a skittle alley and also a large circle set up in theatre style for our ceremony. The bales were decorated with bunting and lots of country flowers and shabby chic props that we'd collected in the months running up to Wedfest...things such as apple crates, old wheelbarrow's/watering cans and glass jars filled with flowers. Vintage suitcases filled with cosy blankets for later in the evening along with a mix of old crochet granny blankets etc.

We had a strongman hammer and a glitter/sweetie station which was a huge hit! Nobody left without some kind of glitter make-up. We also have a DIY Disco for in between music sets and later in the evening when the bands had finished. Lots of ambient festoon lighting, coloured uplighters & candles, festival flags and fire pits for later in the evening. GrainSoup also did all our wooden signage and made blackboards that we used to let our guests know the music line up, taxi numbers and just cute, little messages that we could scatter about the field.

The vision for our food was having amazing, home cooked food, cooked fresh on the day using quality produce. Although the bar was a cash bar, the food was something we wanted to provide for our guests throughout the day, so no fixed eating time...whenever you get the munchies you can go and grab something from the amazing selection that Chris and Mark, from The Whole Hog, offered. The Whole Hog totally delivered and some......it just kept coming!

Our Entertainment was provided by wonderfully talented bands, singers and entertainers - they made our day! Kathryn Anderson is a country singer; The Chaps provided urban, dance and pop covers with seamless transition from one song to the next. Jodie Munday is an amazing singer songwriter who performs catchy, witty songs about modern dilemmas; Noble Jacks who are an alternative folk band; Paul Stanworth who does acoustic rock n' roll, country & blues and did our first dance and The Deadlines who are an indie pop & rock from the 80's to the present. We also had the Marawas Majorettes who did a Hula Hooping set & tuition session.

Sharon: I can't pick a favourite moment, everything about the day brings a smile to my face.

Focus on the detail - we had so many lovely comments, but one thing that kept being mentioned was our attention to detail and the 'little touches'. This really matters and makes a massive difference.

And try and get away just the two of you for a weekend a few weeks prior to the wedding...it gets hectic before the big day and some time out to think/talk about anything other than your wedding planning really helps.

Once we knew Barry and Janie were happy for us to use their field we just started to spend a lot of time down there, getting to know the land. We had the field scaled and printed off by a good friend of ours so we could plot out all the different areas that we wanted.

We were also incredibly lucky to secure the help and support of Claire Hewitt who acted as our operations manager on the day. Claire has a wealth of experience working in events and took care of all the detail on the day, everything from liaising with all our suppliers, the bands, helping guests, final placing of décor, lighting fire pits and candles...you name it Claire was on it...she was a very special help to us and knowing we were in such a safe pair of hands allowed us to relax and enjoy our day even more.

We had tent 'peg plans' from Smidereens which helped us to work out how much space we needed to leave around the tent, making allowances for drop offs, parking, equipment storage etc. Even the width of the gated entrance had to be taken into account so that we 100% knew that everything could get in/out of the field safely.

We had no services in the field, so everything had to be sourced and brought in from suppliers...they were all amazing and we were very lucky to have had so much support and experience to help us along the way.

Signage also took a lot of pre-planning for both inside and in the external areas around the field, it was quite a remote location, so we had to make sure our guests and taxi drivers had some good signage to help them get to us.

The field also needed to be mowed several times in the summer months before the big day!

The one thing (and probably the biggest thing) we couldn't plan for though was the weather, but we were very blessed by the sun Gods on the day, it was a scorcher! No wellies required J
