Henar and Pablo's Intimate Modern Wedding In Madrid

via

Morning Lovely Peeps. I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. Some of you may have even got married or have been on their hen or stag dos! If you have then I hope it was a blast and I expect you are still buzzing from it now. Outdoor wedding season has now officially started so if you are in your last stages of planning, I really hope it is all going to plan and remember to email us if you need any advice at all.

We have a beautiful city wedding to share with you today, sent in by one of our wedding dress faves, Otaduy, and featuring Henar and Pablo - two best friends who held an intimate ceremony in Madrid followed by a small bar crawl with their closest friends and family. With no set theme, Henar and Pablo kept things simple with subtle nods to recent wedding trends through their individual styles and modern wedding decor....

We don't think there was a unique defined theme but in general, it was modern with recent trends. We didn't have unique inspiration for the wedding ideas but it was more a mix between all the things we both love. It was a really special day to us because we succeed to bring our close family and friends together in the same place.

We love that Henar and Pablo bucked tradition and got ready together on the morning of their wedding. We also love that they took a walk through the city to get to their ceremony venue, as if it was just another normal day. Their whole wedding just seems so natural and relaxed and it is captured superbly by Alba May. This is the first time we have come across her photography and we are now huge fans.

Look out for Henar's beautiful elegant vintage style wedding dress worn with a leather jacket and ankle boots. So very cool.

We both talked about marriage before to get engaged and we knew we wanted to get married. One day, as we were eating at home, we talked again about it and realized we didn't have to wait until one properly asked it. That's how we got engaged!

The civil ceremony took place in the Cultural Center Palacete Quinta del Berro in Madrid. It was a ten-minute ceremony in which the officiant, a city councilor from the Salamanca area in Madrid, read a poem by the prophet Khalil Gibran about marriage. Even if the ceremony was really simple, we could choose a song to walk into the ceremony room together and another one to walk out. We chose "Como el viento" by Depedro, a Spanish singer that means a lot to us, and "Wonderwall" by Oasis.

We didn't have one reception venue but three. We didn't want to celebrate our wedding in one of those typical spaces for events but somewhere more relaxed. So we made up a plan: first we invited our family and friends to have some beers in a bar (Cervecería El Barrio). Next, we all went to El Martinete restaurant to eat. Finally, we partied in a bar some of our friends own (La Charlotte).

The decoration was made by Esudio Melange. There were pompoms and paper garlands, recycled candles and jars decorated with different fabric and full of sand, from one of the beaches the groom used to vacation as a child.

We have two favourite moments.

The first one is when we heard "Wonderwall" playing at the end of the ceremony. We were just married and walking out of the room seeing all our happy guests.

The second one is when we came home after the party. We were really tired but also full of memories and feelings. We broke down in tears when we received congratulations on Whatsapp from friends that couldn't make it. It was a way to let the stress and the emotion out, realizing how much people loved us.
