My cousin Jacob moved to New York from Vancouver two and a half years ago, after having visited NYC only a handful of times. He knew no one, but today he is first assistant to one of the top hairdressers in the world. Humble, cool, mellow, lovely, he recently told me that after styling one of the biggest supermodel's hair in the world for the Met Ball, he headed to his chair at the neighborhood salon to touch up the roots of a 65 year old woman. "It's just as gratifying," he says. He's also the only person I trust, on occasion, to whip up some what-me-care-ringlets when I'm in the mood to feel hot and slutty. Get it while you can, girls.
