Making history. Discovered in the Kimberley diamond mine in South Africa in 1877, the original rough Tiffany Diamond weighed 287.42 carats. The following year, it was acquired by founder Charles Lewis Tiffany for $18,000, earning Mr. Tiffany the nickname the “King of Diamonds.” Later, the rough stone was brought to Paris, where it was cut into its current shape, weighing 128.54 carats.
