I can't think of a more proudly South African theme for your wedding than fynbos, and that's exactly what today's bride and groom chose, basing their entire wedding design on their love for Cape fynbos, right down to protea seed favours.

I've heard of a runaway bride, but instead of turning in her running shoes, today's happy wife-to-be wore hers down the aisle, the better to run to her waiting groom! Protea lovers, rejoice! Today's wedding not only includes tons of these gorgeous South African blooms, but balances them with modern stripes and cafe lights, as well as strong wooden elements, including the most awesome pallet backdrop and ceremony arch detail.

This wedding had me at 'protea farm'. I mean seriously, what could be more perfect for a protea lover like myself, than a wedding where our beautiful national flowers are grown, amid fields the colours of a Camps Bay sunset? So it's no wonder that Jess and John chose to accent their wedding design with proteas - dozens of them.

As we continue our autumnal tour of Europe (we've been in Spain, Italy, France and the Netherlands with our real weddings over the last few weeks), today we're off to the Algarve for Ana & Tiago's beautiful wedding in Portugal. This sweet couple (and their super cute pooch Suki!)

Morning, lovelies! We have been having some hosting problems, so the schedule is a bit out of whack, but never mind - today is just going to be FULL of inspiration! We're starting off with a roundup of no less that 25 gorgeous bouquets incorporating one of our favourite South African flowers, the pincushion protea.

Have I ever mentioned that I love proteas? Yep, I know, about a hundred times. But I bloody LOVE proteas. Set against a crisp white background and filled with the most gorgeous Kings and Blushing Brides, this contemporary classic wedding captured by As Sweet As Images has SBB written all over it.

So I waxed lyrical about these flowers on Instagram, and said they were my current obsession in my real bride diary, so I figured, it was high time these gorgeous blooms got a post, all of their own. Proteas, my new favourite addition to a bridal bouquet, are the national flower of South Africa.

The popularity of this whimsical flower called Pincushion Protea continues to grow and grow both in South Africa and abroad, and it's not surprising because it's crazily beautiful! Day Two of styled shoot inspiration begins! From the beach yesterday, today we're off to the Karoo, where the arid landscape inspired our latest team of wedding pros to come up with a very special shoot that has so many elements to it.

You probably don't need me to tell you by now that proteas are my weakness - forget red roses, any man who really wants to impress me just needs to bring me a single fynbos bloom.

This is the kind of wedding I live for, the kind that makes me wonder why anyone would get married anywhere else but our beautiful country (take note, Clooney, although I'd rather you eloped with me). Using a beautiful combination of cascading greens, crisp white blooms and a striking large pink King Protea as the focal point, today's wedding bouquet is fresh and fabulous!
