Planning your honeymoon ~ Ask the expert with Mr & Mrs Smith

I speak to a lot of brides about the 'come down' they experience after they've planned and had the best day of their lives. I was lucky not to really experience it myself as I was busy planning our next adventure - Honeymoon! I'm not sure what I was excited about more, the wedding or the honeymoon! Three weeks visiting New York, San Francisco, Napa Valley, Monetrey, Pismo Beach and finally Los Angeles. Perfection. That was almost 2 years ago now and it was the best trip of our lives. We booked some of our hotels via honeymoon concierge Mr & Mrs Smith and I have to say their service was second to none. Even though I was booking from the UK, their NYC based consultant gave me tips and advice on the best area to stay suited to our requirements. They're the best at what they do and suit all budgets with their Budget Boutique Hotels collection.

Are you planning your honeymoon? Boutique hotel experts Mr & Mrs Smith have sent loved-up couples on romantic getaways for more than 10 years. Bali

Bali is perfect for honeymooners: its wild rainforest, hidden lagoons and pristine beaches are presided over by deity statues meditating on dainty tiered temples. My boyfriend and I loved Alila Ubud, where rooms are traditional with a contemporary twist; you can spend your days relaxing in their tranquil jungle-flanked pavilions, but cycle paths by rice paddies, temples to explore nearby and white-water rafting on the Ayung River will rouse adventure seekers.

Greece

The island-set Grace hotels are gorgeous - Grace Santorini's very romantic, and Grace Mykonos offers private Jacuzzis with Aegean views and lively surroundings; it's hard to choose just one of the Greek Islands, so I recommend a trip which combines both! Low-key Anemi, (just a ferry ride away from Santorini or Mykonos) on unspoilt Folegandros, is a personal favourite with design-led rooms and sea views from the infinity pool.

Morocco

Morocco's an unsung honeymoon destination, but twosomes will love discovering its vibrant culture. Marrakech's thrillingly madcap medina is a great place to start, and artistic riad El Fenn puts you close to the action; with rainbow-hued, ogee-arched interiors and a restful rooftop pool it's an excellent time-out spot when you're done spending your dirhams in the souk. The Atlas Mountains are a must-see - enjoy the laid-back Berber-village lifestyle at sky-high stay Kasbah du Toubkal.

New York and Mexico

Mexico's Riviera Maya has diverse wildlife, begging-to-be-explored Mayan ruins and a beach-blessed shoreline. I suggest staying at elegant resort Esencia to relax on the sand, then flying to New York for a few days of cosmopolitan pavement pounding, bar hopping and landmark spotting - and a few nights of kicking back in Beaux Arts style at The Surrey.

The Maldives

The white-sand islands of the Maldives hit all the right honeymoon notes, with dreamy beach-basking days in sigh-inducing surrounds. Gili Lankanfushi 's rustic-luxe, over-water villas are the ultimate newlywed hideaway; and you get your own personal Jeeves to keep cocktails close at hand and plan sun-kissed seaside adventures - perfection.
