For those of you that have a preteen girl that you want in your wedding, chances are you are wondering exactly what role she can play. She's too old to be a flower girl, but too young to stand up with you as a bridesmaid. Here are a few options to consider:

Escort for the flower girl or cherished pet Especially if the flower girl is really young, someone is going to need to assist her down the aisle. If the preteen is also on the younger side (around 8 years old) you could ask her to escort the flower girl down the aisle. A lot of couples also want to include their dogs in the ceremony. Have her walk Rover down the aisle in a dress that matches the color of the bridesmaid dresses.

Junior bridesmaid If she is around 12, that is a perfectly acceptable age to be a full-fledged junior bridesmaid. Otherwise, you could still have her play the role, but perhaps have her sit with her parents if standing for the entire ceremony seems too daunting.

Greeter Is she a little precocious in the best possible way? Have her hand out programs and greet guests as they come in (make sure to also station someone a little older nearby...just in case). At an outdoor wedding, she could distribute water bottles and paper fans. Again, make her feel special with a dress that matches your bridal party in color or style. Just make sure to also station someone a little older near by...just in case.

Kids' table designer Every child loves to be special, but that doesn't always mean they want to be in the spotlight. If you want to show her how much you love her insight and appreciate her fun personality, put her in charge of an appropriate detail. You could have her design the kids' table, suggesting activities and the tastiest kid-coveted treats. And she would probably feel pretty proud if her name wound up in the program as a result.

No matter how you include the young people in your life, being involved in your wedding will be a memory they will love!
