Shook Me All Night Long.

Shook Me All Night Long.

I don't think I've ever seen a bride and groom who smiles as much as Nikita and Jamie did on their big day; honestly their infectious grins are enough to make even the most miserable, rainy Mondays seem like Happy Hour on the beaches of Mauritius.

I know...pretty darn awesome right?!

But that's not all that's delicious in this big day. We have male sartorial inspiration by the bucketload (think lots of snazzy tweed) and Nikita's gorgeous Ronald Joyce dress to gawp over. There's also a rather unusual purple bouquet which we think you lot will very much like too; it has orchids nestled in it - something we've not seen on these pages for a while.

Oh and then there's Nikita's hair studded with the teeniest pins which make it look as if she's got a constellation surrounding her pretty face.

I'm totally loving it.

Nikita The Bride: The main thing me and Jamie wanted from the wedding was for it to be laid back - we wanted our guests to be comfortable, well fed and to party the night away - and the day delivered on all of those aspects even more than we could have expected. We were working to a strict budget so we chose specific things we knew we wanted to spend the money on (outfits, venue and photographer), and we were very lucky that our family and friends were on hand to help with the rest.

After flicking through bridal mags I knew I wanted to go for something really elegant, probably full length with either a capped or long sleeve, and I definitely wanted lace to tie in with the vintage feel of the day. The staff at Logans were extremely helpful and picked out a beautiful selection of dresses for me to try on, and advised me to try on my favourite first - I fell in love with the Philippa dress the second I put it on, it ticked all of my boxes, and brought a tear to my mum's eye (which is no easy feat!) Shoes, jewellery and accessories were found through trawling websites online - Not on the High Street's website was fantastic, and I also got inspiration from Etsy.

Jamie laboured over his outfit a lot longer than I did! He works for menswear fashion company Drake London, giving a plethora of contacts who were only too happy to help him put together a bespoke look for the big day.

It can be difficult finding a rustic venue in Northern Ireland, and I was extremely lucky to stumble upon Riverdale Barn 's stand at the Quirky Weddings Fair at the Waterfront in Belfast. I fell in love with the venue the minute I saw it, and I can't speak highly enough of the team there (Oonagh, Davey & Diane) who were so helpful, friendly and laid back. The venue is stunning, the food fantastic, and the staff are second to none.

Our colour scheme developed very organically; I happened upon the birdesmaid dress and colour by chance and things developed from there - Suzanne was completely in control of the decor on my behalf, we wanted mismatched crockery, 'wild' flowers and a rustic feel - and she ran with the idea and created such a beautiful look at the venue!

Our florist, Suzanne, was recommended by Oonagh at Riverdale; she's local to the venue and knows it well, having dressed it many times before. I trusted her wholeheartedly with her ideas - decisions about the decor and flowers were all on Suzanne, and the day wouldn't have come together so beautifully if it hadn't been for her!

Once the bridesmaid dresses were chosen Jamie based the rustic look of his groomsmen around them, and sourced all the different items for them. My mum chose the flowergirl outfits when she spotted some discounted dresses in a Monsoon sale.

My cousin Richard Hutchinson registered as an officiant through his church, and delivered a beautiful and funny ceremony. His address was based around the lyrics, "the foolishness we create in love is the closest we come to greatness" by a band called Airport Girl. I chose the music (played through our ipod), walking down the aisle to a strings version of 'Flightless Bird, American Mouth' by Iron Wine (covered by Vitamin String Quartet), we signed the register to Ben Fold's 'Luckiest' and walked out together to Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros 'Home'. My brother, Jamie's sister and Jamie's cousin all did readings, 'A Red Red Rose' by Robert Burns, Love and Some Verses' by Iron & Wine, and 'I Carry Your Heart with Me I Carry it In' by E.E. Cummings. We couldn't have asked for a more special ceremony and it all took place against the candlelight, a log fire, and the smell of Barbara's eucalyptus.

Bespoke Music Solutions provided the DJ set in the evening and they were off the chain! The dancefloor was packed from the very first song (Jump Around by House of Pain), until the very last ('Shook Me All Night Long' by ACDC). Couldn't recommend these guys enough, they tailored their set to the kind of music we love, and everyone was a sweaty mess by the end of the night!

We really wanted an informal feel to the day so opted for a hot buffet with chicken curry, lasagne, ham, veg, sides (also this kept costs down), and then there was a BBQ at night (around 10pm). The food was delicious and the portions were ridiculously huge!

What can we say about Epic Love? We were sold the minute we met Rob, he's such a friendly guy and he went out of his way to make us feel special - and he has a brilliant sense of humour! His candid style was exactly what we were looking for and he captured all the special moments of the day - we relive it every time we look at his photos.

Our day was amazing, and it was made special by all the people who were there with us. If I could give any advice it is use your family and friends as much as possible if you're trying to keep costs down! Don't sweat the small stuff, what you'll remember from the day is the overwhelming feeling of love from everyone there, and after that what you ate or what colour your flowers were won't seem so important any more.
