Scented wedding stationery from Cutture & Chapter 7 Scents

Written by: louise

I'm a little obsessed with wedding stationery (just incase you hadn't already guessed!). I love the way a Save the Date or wedding invite sets the tone for your entire day, it can convey a style, mood or tell a story! From their trend-setting laser-cuts to elaborate pop up designs, Cutture is certainly the perfect choice for the fashion-forward bride. And you're just going to LOVE what they've come up with now... an incredible collaboration with Chapter 7 Scents combining exquisite stationery and personalised scents that are a completely immersive experience for your guests. And I'm SO wishing they'd already invented scented internet round about now!

Owner and designer Helen Sharland spills the beans...

Tell us about Cutture Cutture is an experiential stationery design house based in London. We create intricate stationery for weddings and events, tailor making stationery for our clients to create intricate works of art as their stationery for invitations and on the day. Cutture are known as wedding industry trend setters, where do you get your inspiration?!

Our ideas really come from a conceptual starting point, we never like to create stationery just to match the bridesmaids dresses! We are all about establishing relationships with our clients so we can truly understand them, be it for a wedding or a brand for corporate stationery, everything has to have an idea behind it, not just following themes. This is a historical way of thinking for us with our background in architecture and graphic design, however with we've added emotion too. Recently we have noticed how we draw a lot from emotion and experience - nostalgia and references to feelings play a huge part in our stationery as events are so integral to the senses.

How did your collaboration with Chapter 7 Scents come about? We have known Gemma for a while and essentially got talking about our similar approach to work -we create emotion and feelings through our products and Gemma does the same for her events so it was a natural progression that we collaborate. It was at a point when we were already delving into experiential stationery with other senses such as sound and vision it was the perfect match to launch a scented collection. Tell us about the new range

For us we believe we have a very important job - the invitation for a wedding needs to really connect with your guests. They already recognise illustrations of your life from a invitation, so to add another scent really adds to an already 'nostalgic' emotion. Similarly for brands, you need to entice epode to your event, the invitation is your currency. The range we have created is really a starting point; for example a suggestion for a New Year's Eve party with the scent of smoldering fireworks and a golden sparkler inside, or the kids party which looks like a popcorn bag and is scented with sweet treats! Bespoke options are available for weddings, you could take your guests back to the scent of your childhood garden or your favourite perfume - it's limitless! There are 13 scents that are already available as an option - these can be included in any bespoke invitation and for the event itself. We hope that when guests receive one of these multi-sensory invitations they're enticed to the event and will keep it as a memento for years to come.

Is ordering a scented stationery suite different to the normal ordering process? It's fairly similar to our bespoke service only it takes slightly longer for a bespoke scent - if you are choosing a scent that is already available from the range, the process will be the same as we highlight in your production calendar for you. We invite you in for a design consultation to meet with our stationery consultant to discuss your ideas so far, then essentially take it from there where we work together to create your perfect stationery suite. What's your next challenge?!

There's always a next challenge! Generally we're already thinking about it before we've finished the last! The next one... that would be telling! You might have to wait until the annual Christmas 'card' comes out!
