Designer Chloé gown for an Intimate Urban City Wedding

This is a prime example of an understated yet beautiful wedding, focusing on love, friendship, fashion and style....lots of style!

After a small ceremony with close friends and family at Islington Town Hall, London, Lucy and Richard chose St John restaurant near London's Smithfield Market for their reception. It has a wonderful minimalist, urban vibe, with hanging ceiling pendants, painted white exposed brick and rustic wooden chairs which alongside the fresh greenery decor makes for one stunning reception interior.

Lucy's customised Chloé dress seemed to complement the whole look of the day perfectly and the portraits of her & Richard captured by Sansom Photography display the pure elegance and sophistication of this city wedding. The black & white portraits in particular have a wonderful 1920s vintage feel and make you feel like you are part or a romantic old movie.

Lucy The Bride: I've always found loose fitting clothes to be the most flattering and sexy, and (like every day) I wanted to feel relaxed and uninhibited on my wedding day. I loved the texture of the fabric and the way it moved. It was very minimal, I prefer to punctuate with makeup, hair or shoes. The shoes were a nod towards the 1920's look.

The Grooms Attire

Richard wanted to look modern and timeless. He's got a good figure for a well-tailored suit! The tie's fun and differentiates the outfit from his everyday work garb.

The Venue

We wanted something understated, but without compromising on food and service. It's a fine line to balance, but that's what St John are famous for and they were brilliant. We served some fun dishes like tongue and heart to give our guests something to talk about!

Colour Scheme/Décor

It was a winter wedding, so white and green were the most seasonal colours. I focused on rugged greens as I thought they looked great against the restaurant interior.

Flowers

I even went for a rugged green bouquet to really punctuate my white dress.

The Wedding Party Fashion

We didn't want to make too much of a ceremony on the day. We're quite a pragmatic couple and just wanted to get the paper signed! Although we did want the big party, we cut out a few of the wedding traditions.

Entertainment

My friend James has an incredibly diverse record collection. He's an authority on many genres of music from jazz to techno, and he knows our music taste inside out. It was wonderful to have an old friend play music all night.
