To the Manor Born: Beautiful Scottish Wedding Inspiration | Fly Away Bride

We wanted the first wedding inspiration we shared on our new site to be a little bit special, and we're pretty sure you'll love this shoot. Stunning, rugged, untouched.. just a few adjectives that aptly describe the scenery in this sublime wedding session. Set amidst the mountains and lochs of Scotland at the elegant manor of Ardkinglas, a celebratory feasting theme runs through the imagery here, complemented by an elegant palette of lavender, dusky pink, blue and green with rich red accents. It's a hunter's palette where bird and feather motifs abound. Susie from Knot & Pop who planned and styled the shoot is originally from Scotland so this project was hugely dear to her heart. Dramatic romance was the overall theme of the day, in perfect keeping with Scotland's wild and insanely beautiful countryside. The images are captured to perfection by Ann Kathrin Koch: more about her film photography below.

We love the table plan of layered red robin leaves like little bird feathers, and the multiple textures used in the linen menus and table numbers. The table runner is exquisite, hand-dyed by Lamplighter London and inscribed with Scottish poet Edwin Morgan's poem "Love". Copper vases complement gorgeously decadent floral arrangements by Pyrus. The Susie Stone gowns are romantic and pared back, finding their perfect complement in the jewellery provided by Maria Nilsdotter and Cornelia Webb, along with the unique headpieces by Curious Fair and Vagabond Couture. Handmade plates provided by Love It Want It Buy It as well as antique flatware add elegance to the table, and glassware by Helene Millot adds a celebratory air.

Ann Kathrin Koch 's sublime film photography is superb. Ann tells us she shoots in film because she loves the connection to her subjects without the distraction of a digital screen. She also relishes the fact that the slower process of shooting in film allows her to concentrate on capturing that perfect moment. For Ann, film photography is both the most flattering and vibrant of photography mediums.
