Colorful Mexican-Inspired Wedding: Lara + Michael

Colorful Mexican-Inspired Wedding: Lara + Michael

via

We thought we'd head into the weekend with a wedding that's, basically, exploding with color + fun. Lara + Michael tied the knot beside a lake in Brisbane, Australia, with a celebration heavily inspired by Mexican culture, color + detail. They focused on including elements that represented them + designed their day alongside their planner-slash-florist-slash-designer, Amey from Pack a Perfect Party, who L + M describe as a creative genius! Lara has lots more to share about their inspiration, so let's hear it before really getting into the pretty photos by Stewart Ross!

Everything about the wedding (theme, location, food, atmosphere) felt like it was 'us' - it's almost hard to explain - from the beginning we knew we wanted something fun, beautiful and in-formal, but to still feel relaxed. We wanted to laugh and dance all day and night, and for guests to do and feel the same. For us this meant an intimate crowd of closest family and friends, a relaxed location, great music and delicious food + cocktails. Michael said he wanted tacos as our wedding meal (and who doesn't love Mexican?), so from there a bright and exciting Mexican Fiesta theme began evolving!

We're adoring Lara's bright flower grown + bouquet, along with her gorgeous, modern Karen Willis Holmes dress!

We both say The procession! Seeing each other on the walk down, we were just ecstatic - it's funny, you feel like it's the first time seeing each other in years - everything has been leading to this very minute and it was the most amazing feeling in the world! And everything that followed was simply unforgettable; having all our friends and family 'dance like no one is watching' the entire time really made it the best night ever.

Lara says, It rained on us during the ceremony! But we were just so caught up in the happiness of the moment that it didn't even matter. And our guests were amazing, they just popped up their umbrellas and stayed on. You have no control over the elements, just enjoy it!

Katie, the donkey, stood by L + M's side as they said their vows + snapped some portraits!

Relax, don't stress! The day isn't about the details, the decor or everything going perfectly... In the end it's about the two of you being there, being stupidly in love, and all your favourite people being there in support. We were so relaxed in the planning and lead up, of course we had great help from Amey Mejak from Pack a Perfect Party as our Wedding Planner, but it meant we were SO looking forward to our wedding day! I hear so many brides-to-be say in the lead up "I can't wait for it to be over" because they stress over every little detail, and everything going perfectly.
