Oh this is just the sweetest day.

Holly and Colin tied the knot on the 11th April at the Actors Church followed by a party with their loved ones at Merchant House in London. Their Springtime nuptials were so pretty yet so very unique and aiming to reflect themselves as a couple worked just perfectly.

They chose dried flowers and lavender for the bouquets and décor which must have smelt wonderful. Holly looked ethereal in her tulle gown and veil with dried flower crown while the maids wore white frocks. Home made touches throughout really added a stamp of personality and I love the key table plan.

THE PROPOSAL | The proposal took place on a December evening in Greenwich Park. It's a special place for us - close to our new home as newly weds and our favourite park in London. We'd gone for a walk through the park to head into Greenwich to have a drink and meet up with my mum who was visiting London that weekend. We stopped on the way to share a cuddle and admire the night sky - it was a crisp and clear evening so the sky was full of stars and looked absolutely beautiful - and the park was empty (a rare occurrence in London!!). It was at this moment that Colin got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife - with a gorgeous vintage ring. We celebrated in town and shared the news with my mum and her partner over a bottle of bubbly. It truly was a wonderful way to end the year!

THE VISION | It's hard to try and explain our vision as it seemed to evolve and change over the planning process and as we got nearer to the day. I decided early on not to set my heart on any specific idea or plan in case budget or availability wouldn't allow for it. But we knew we wanted a day that was fun, relaxed and that reflected us as a couple.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | We knew we wanted to be married in a church, and chose the beautiful St Paul's in Covent Garden (also known as The Actors Church). Our reception venue was a fantastic bar in London which is run by a friend of ours. Once we had our venues confirmed we looked after other practicalities and logistics, and I started on creating lots of home made touches for our day. In fact, most of our wedding day turned out to be home made in the end- the invitations, order of service, reception décor, favours etc. Which was super fun but rather time consuming... However, I'm glad I did it this way as it made our special day so personal and unique, so every minute was worth it!

THE VENUE | The ceremony: St Paul's Covent Garden (The Actors Church). Reception: Merchant House.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | The dress and veil was from David's Bridal, the flower crown was from The Artisan Dried Flower Co, the earrings were a vintage find in an antique store, the bracelet from Rosie Fox, the sash was found on Etsy and made by Laura Stark, and I found the shoes online too.

FINDING THE DRESS | I went with my best friend to David's Bridal after looking online for affordable dresses that I liked the look of. They had a huge range of designs and of price ranges so I was hoping to find the dress in just one visit (couldn't bear the idea of going round so many different shops looking for 'the one'!!) and fortunately I did! It took trying on quite a few dresses but once I tried on my dress it just felt so right - and it amazingly turned out to be the least expensive one of the designs I selected!

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Colin's three piece suit was from BHS, the tie and pocket square were from an amazing online shop called Mrs Bow Tie. The shoes were from Burton.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We had readings from Song of Solomon and 1 John. Our friend and one of the leaders from our own church did the address. A couple of my friends from my drama school played the piano and sang during the signing of the register - O Mio Babbino Caro and Halo by Beyonce. Our first dance at the reception was to the acoustic version of Everlong by the Foo Fighters.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My best girls were with me on the day as my bridesmaids. Not only did they all look beautiful but they looked after me so well on the day, their support was amazing and I was so glad to have them with me. I had three bridesmaids - all really close friends of mine from different parts of my life. We found their dresses on ASOS, the flower hair pieces came from The Artisan Dried Flower Co, and jewellery from Glitzy Secrets and Blackburn Bridal in Blackheath. They wore their own shoes in a neutral/nude shade.

THE FLOWERS | The bouquets and buttonholes were a custom order from a shop I found on Etsy called DaisyShopUK. I also ordered some more dried lavender and gypsophila from the same shop - plus dried some of my own!!- to make my own bunches and flower arrangements for the reception venue.

THE CAKE | Our lovely wedding cake was made by Colin's mum. The cupcakes at the reception were from Crumbs and Doilies, and our gluten free chocolate cake was made by one of our friends.

"Well what can I say... We sat down on the sofa when we got some time together (it's been manic of late!) and had a big glass of wine... And watched the slideshow and looked at all the pictures... WE LOVE THEM!!!!! Honestly, we couldn't have asked for a better set of photos to remember our day by or a nicer photographer to have done them for us. We are chuffed to bits and adore them. I actually cried because I loved them so much!!!"

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Our theme turned out in the end to be a mix of lavender and 'enchanted woodland'. Merchant House has fantastic décor, full of interesting pieces and features, and is decorated in a way that just worked really well with the home-made pieces we had placed around the venue. We had lots of candles and tea lights dotted around the whole bar, jars of lavender, and mini chocolate eggs in nests hidden around the venue which all the children at the wedding loved hunting for.

We created a table plan using vintage style keys and luggage tags, guests had to find their key to find their table. Place settings were made using luggage tags again, and had vintage style bronze charms attached to them - a woodland animal and a padlock - which doubled up as our favours.

We served cocktails for our reception drinks and also for the toasts during the speeches, had wood fired pizza delivered for our wedding breakfast, and cupcakes for dessert.

We finished the night with Colin's favourite pub band, the Daisy Cutters, and danced the night away with our guests.

THE HONEYMOON | We got married during the Easter holidays, as I'm currently studying for a Masters degree, so we had a short trip to the South of France just for a few days before I had to head back for the next term. We're heading off to Sicily for our honeymoon when my course is completed for a slightly longer (and much needed!) break.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | We loved the whole day! It went so smoothly and we both enjoyed every moment. It was wonderful to see our guests having a good time and what was really touching was that people kept coming up to us and saying how nice everyone at our wedding was - we love our friends and family so for them to all like each other too was fab! The speeches were a real highlight, full of laughter from everyone in the room. My hairdresser is a friend of mine and we've talked about doing my hair for my wedding day for years - so to be able to get ready with my girls in the morning and have him all do our hair was brilliant and so much fun. The most memorable moment of the whole day for both of us was saying our vows as ultimately that is what the day is about and we were just so happy to get married to one another.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Keep it simple, be willing to be flexible with ideas, and only take on so much DIY as you can manage! Spend time and money on the things that will matter most and will make a difference to your day - our guests loved all the personal touches and details at the reception, the red route master bus to take them from the church to the reception venue, the pizza and the cocktails. Make your day your own and don't be afraid to do things slightly differently - so many of our friends said that is felt more like a relaxed celebration than a formal wedding, and that the day was unique, quirky and fun.
