Dear The Bridal Guru,

I am under a deadline for ordering my invitations. I don't know what is correct and I am hearing mixed things.

Is this the proper way to word the date and time on the invitations and programs? There are so many opinions about whether it is proper to capitalize the year and time!

Saturday, the second of May

Need Invitation Etiquette Help

Dear Need Invitation Etiquette Help,

You don't need any help. The way you have the wording is correct. True, times have changed; but it's always better to err on tradition in my opinion.

You do need to hurry and order your invitations now as you want your guests to have their invites at least one month before your wedding. If you have a calligrapher to address your invitations, that person needs ample time as well. I always look at when I want my guests to receive their invitations and then work backwards. The amount of time you allow for the different people involved in your invitations will vary on the number, the complexity, the design, etc. The more involved the invitation; the more time you need to allow. The more invitations you are mailing out; the more time you need to allow for calligrapher and/or addressing.

Good luck with your upcoming wedding and hurry and order your invites!
