Great things typically come in pairs, which is why we love throwing stellar makeup combos your way every once in while. Last week, we introduced you to the glossy lids and maroon lips duo. This week's hot couple is made up of chic purple lips and über-cool taupe eyes. This pairing may sound a little strange, but trust us, it's EVERYTHING. Check out how makeup genius Alana Dawn made this dynamic duo come to life.

Step 1: Apply a neutralizing primer to the eyelids to cancel out any redness or darkness. Then, dust on a natural, cream-colored eye shadow (try NYX Hot Singles Eye Shadow in Vixen) to the entire lid, crease and inner corners of the eyes.

Step 2: Using a blending brush, dust on a rich, taupe shadow into the crease of your eyes. Blend some of this color onto your lower lash line as well. Finish off the eyes with your go-to mascara!

Step 3: Line the lips with a violet-colored lip liner and fill in the lip with a purple lipstick (for lip liner, try Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Liner in Wine) and for lipstick, try Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids in Brazen Berry). When filling in, use a lip brush for a more precise application.
